Secret Spirits aims to defeat depression in a maximum time of a year. It works if you work. You are required merely to start each day with a 15 minute spiritual exercise and you will be given one piece of simple home work which you will be required to submit at your weekly one hour Zoom meeting with your SS mentor.
This sounds like an outrageous claim considering no psychotherapist would dare predict such success. After all, the number of anti-depressant prescriptions have doubled in the UK in the last 10 years from 35 million to 70 million a year. The profession, naturally, is beset with doubt and, at best, hopes to help you manage your depression with life strategy and appropriate pills.
The problem with psychotherapy is that it is based on outmoded opinion and false assumption. Read investigative journalist, Johann Hari’s hugely acclaimed 2018 book Lost Connections to find out the latest thinking. Leaders in the field now realise that depression is not primarily genetic, biological or even mental. These are secondary effects. As mental health pioneer, Jean Vanier has written: “Psychology identifies the causes. Only the spirit transforms with love.”
